How to Clear IBPS PO & Clerk Exam – Tips and Strategy from Himanshu Rawat
- Interviewer: Tell us something about your family background.
Himanshu: My father is a clerk in the Education Department (Delhi) and my mother is housewife.
- Interviewer: Tell us about your educational background.
Himanshu: I did my graduation from college Hansraj college (Delhi University) in Geology Honours and I am doing MSC in the same.
My teachers from Hansraj college were very supporting during my preparation.
- Interviewer: Why you choose the banking sector?
Himanshu: Government sector has many benefits. I am fond of interacting with people. Banking provides me that platform. Government sector provides us a good salary package and job security.
I wanted a government job only and I was preparing for it from 2016. One can easily get a job in 4- 6 months by clearing banking exam and there is stability also.
- Interviewer: What kind of problems did you face while preparing for banking exam?
Himanshu: In 2018 I lost someone very special and I was also at bedrest then from August 2018 I again started my preparation for the banking exam.
- Interviewer: Kindly share your strategy?
Himanshu: There are three stages of a banking exam. Stage 1 is prelims and stage 2 is mains followed by an interview for the post of PO.
For prelims, Go with 1-2 mocks daily, and do not forget to analyze them. This is the most important thing to crack any exam. Solve maximum number of quizzes which will help increase your speed that is necessary to qualify prelims, as accuracy and speed plays an important role in prelims exams.
For Maths, I went for mock tests and analyzed the questions. I tried to improve my speed through all this.
For Reasoning, I solved 4-5 puzzles daily of all levels and all topics.
For English, I used Arihant English Grammar Book and followed Newspapers like The Hindu on daily basis and also follow blogs
- Read syllabus first.
- Try to cover each and every topic from reasoning.
- For math give mocks twice a day.
- For current affairs, I followed Gaurav Garg sir and Prashant Dhawan sir .
Interviewer: How was your interview?
Himanshu: The panel basically checks your confidence.
The interview round was 15-20 minutes long, where a panel of bank officials ask questions about themselves, banking sector, current affairs, general awareness, etc.
The candidates must be well dressed, confident and carry all required documents to the interview.
The interview round was of 100 marks. I secured 70 marks in the interview.
Through this round, a candidate’s communication skills and personality are examined.
- Interviewer: Tell us something about your descriptive paper.
Himanshu: Prepare 7 to 8 current topics and keep revising them again and again.
- Interviewer: What message would you like to give to fellow aspirants.
Himanshu: At last, I would say, do not lose patience. Prepare very well for GA as it is the game changer in every exam.

- Believe in yourself
